Huawei is launching several new smart TVs. These displays have a mini-LED backlight that contributes to a high peak brightness in addition to the panel’s smooth 120Hz refresh rate.

Huawei is introducing a new TV called the Vision Smart Screen 5 SE. As usual, this new screen is available in various sizes. More specifically, the Vision Smart Screen 5 SE is offered in 55, 65 and 75 inches, but only on the Chinese market for the time being. Official preorder prices start at the equivalent of $358. Details on a possible global launch are not available yet, but it seems rather unlikely that Huawei's new TVs will ever launch in the US or Europe.
That said, these new televisions are based on the mini-LED technology, which means their backlight can be adjusted depending on the content on screen. In HDR mode, they have a peak brightness of 800 to 1,000 nits and a contrast ratio of 125,000:1. The native refresh rate is 120Hz or up to 240Hz with interpolation. Unsurprisingly, these are 4K panels with a resolution of 3840 x 2160.
Moreover, Huawei latest television sets have some more or less unusual features. For instance, the integrated camera can be used for video calls and certain games, which are rather simple and might be comparable to titles for the PlayStation 2 EyeToy camera. The Vision Smart Screen 5 SE runs on HarmonyOS 4.3, while gaming consoles or external media players can be hooked up via HDMI. An Ethernet port is also available, as is WiFi and several AI-powered features.

I have been active as a journalist for over 10 years, most of it in the field of technology. I worked for Tom’s Hardware and ComputerBase, among others, and have been working for Notebookcheck since 2017. My current focus is particularly on mini PCs and single-board computers such as the Raspberry Pi – so in other words, compact systems with a lot of potential. In addition, I have a soft spot for all kinds of wearables, especially smartwatches. My main profession is as a laboratory engineer, which is why neither scientific contexts nor the interpretation of complex measurements are foreign to me.

My fascination for technology goes back a long way to the Pentium II era. Modding, overclocking and treasuring computer hardware has since become an integral part of my life. As a student, I further developed a keen interest in mobile technologies that can make the stressful college life so much easier. After I fell in love with the creation of digital content while working in a marketing position, I now scour the web to bring you the most exciting topics in the world of tech. Outside the office, I’m particularly passionate about motorsports and mountain biking.
